Get Ready To BUILD A BIGGER BETTER BIZ In 2016!

Construction BIZ owners had a busy 2015!
More work but not enough time or resources to get everything done. Lots of opportunities to win more jobs and increase revenue, but too busy to handle all the details and maximize the bottom-line. More work than people to do things the way they should be done. And lots of items left on the ‘To-Do’ list.

As 2015 year end approaches, NOW WHAT?
What will you do different in 2016 to make it a better (not bigger) year? I just got off the phone with a member of our mastermind peer BIZ-GROUP who’s closing out his year. 2015 sales were up from $10 million to $16 million. But total gross and net profit were less than last year. He is BUSY, tired and not happy. He admitted he made a few mistakes because he was too busy doing too much himself and not getting the help he needed. He hit his goal for BIGGER but missed his goal for BETTER.

We next discussed his action plans for next year and talked about restructuring his management team, moving him up to the role as President, and not acting as field or equipment manager anymore. His goal is to get BETTER. And to make that happen, he will have to do different. We then decided to schedule a 2 day management meeting in February to get his people on board with their new roles and responsibilities.

Being BUSY is not a BETTER goal.
Making a BIGGER net profit is the real goal. BIZ-Owners get used to doing more versus BETTER. To get BETTER takes a commitment to change your routine, role, responsibility and risk.

Over the next few weeks, make some time to decide what you want to happen in 2016 – Bigger or Better? And then you must take time to draft a plan to achieve exactly what you want. Make tough choices about your:
– Customers & Project Types
– People & Management Team
– Estimating & Job Cost Accuracy
– Systems & Standards
– Profitability & Pay
– Ability to enjoy the benefits of BIZ Ownership
